Best Coffee in Seattle: Vivaces

I drink a LOT of coffee.

Now I'm not saying that I have the best taste in coffee, but being blessed to live in such a coffee-conscious city has led me to at least be able to weed out "bad" coffee. Running all around Seattle as I do, I'm constantly having those moments where I realize, "Oh $%*#, I need coffee." This leads to try lots of random coffees shops all around our beloved city. Now I'll say this, most the coffee here is decent. I just can't imagine how a place would stay in business if they had terrible coffee, considering the clientele. So it takes quite a coffee shop to go above and beyond. Vivaces is such a place.

I discovered Vivaces while living in Capitol Hill some years ago. It was a few blocks from where I lived and so I ended up going there a lot. What struck me first about the place was the line going out the door (note: this was at their old locations on the south end of Broadway, as opposed to their new location on the north end). The line was so long in part because 1) their the bomb and 2) they make each order at a time, unlike many other shops that take your order and have you wait at the other end of it. Another thing I liked about Vivaces is that they are known for their "latte art." This where they finish making the drink by creating a "rosetta" design by pouring the steamed milk into the espresso short in a very skilled way. It's so pretty and shows that they put in the extra effort. That, and they are also roast their own beans. Sweet eh?

So if you're looking for some GREAT coffee, I highly recommend Vivaces on Broadway in Capitol Hill. Personally, I think their "White Velvet" drink is from heaven, but if sweet drinks aren't you thing than a simple, black American will leave you smiling. Hope you enjoy and feel free to leave me a message of what you think!
